Currently serving as the Chairman of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU), formerly IPGM&R.

She Passed BDS From Dhaka Dental College (DDC), Under Dhaka University. She Had Her MS (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery) From Bangladesh Medical University (BMU / Previously BSMMU). She Is a Fellow of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) Prof. Dr. Mahmuda Akhter, Also A Fellow of the International College of Dentistry (FICD) and The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCPS). Prof. (DR.) Mahmuda Akhter Is the Secretary-General of The Bangladesh Oral Cancer Society, Established In 2006, Which Works Thorough Out the Country for Promoting Oral Health and Oral Cancer Awareness Programs. This Society Supports Underprivileged Oral Cancer Patients, Along with Different Academic and Surgical Teaching Programs by Arranging International Conferences, Hands on Training Sessions and Theoretical Classes. With Good Academic Background and Wide Clinical Expertise, working in the Prime Medical University of Bangladesh, Which Handles Critical Referred Oral and Maxillary Cases, Professor Akhter has proficiency in the field of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. She Also Authored More Than 40 Papers Published in The National and International Journals. She Wrote a Book “Annegret’s Grading of Oral Carcinoma and Regional Metastasis” Published BMahmuday LAMBERT Academic Publishing.
